1946 F.A. Reynolds catalog
This catalog was recently made available to the site via a kind donation by Jonathan Quine. The date printed on the back page is March 1949, however, the contents and design are likely from earlier. I am dating this as c.1946 with the following notes:
- Engraving notes for the sterling silver bells explicitly mention the "monogram design", which was introduced in 1946 and replaced the original F.A. Reynolds engraving style.
- Cover artwork is consistent with advertising from the mid 1940's
- There is no mention of "Division of Scherl & Roth", which began to appear on documented advertising and other materials in 1946
- There are no mentions of the Contempora models that are included in the c.1949 catalog I've collected
- Model numbers are consistent with the later documentation
- Illustrations are of the original instrument designs, with the standard (non-Olds) bracing on the trombones and "teardrop" valve caps on the trumpets and cornets
- Mouthpiece illustrations on the trumpet, cornet, and other instruments are the fluted style design that was used in the late 1930's
- The striking blue color on the cover and throughout is consistent with the Ohio Band catalog design and contrasts with the yellows and golds used by Scherl & Roth
